Our local golf course, Sunny Brook, was only a 9 hole course in the 1950's, (now has 27 holes). The course record was 27. Three golfers were tied for the record. The course was short, but not easy., and very well maintained. There was an out of bounds on each hole, a railroad track ran along the side of two holes, a creek ran through some of the holes. 1 par 5, 3 par 3's & the rest par 4's for a course par of 34.
One of the scores was held by the course Pro - Bill Ferguson, one was by Denny Baughman, the club champion, and the 3rd score was held by Gordie Paulus. Gordie shot a 3 on each hole. Gordie was about 15 or 16 and still in high School.
The course is in Brimfield Ohio. Just a little township east of Akron, Ohio. We had 4 golf courses on the same road within 5 miles of each other. 3 are still in play today.
Good ole days !!
